“The Gods Themselves have come to rescue you from the musically mundane. No, not those gods, but this group of four humans from Seattle brandishing a fresh bit of woozy wha-wha pedals and shrewd rhythms, and offering zero apologies for their forthright grooviness.” –CMJ
Since the early 2000s, band members Astra Elane and Dustin Patterson have been contributing to the Pacific Northwest’s live music scene. Now as members of TGT, they each contribute a unique imprint of perceptions, passions and life experiences shaping a sound that echoes of 80’s dance beats, raw, angular guitars and art-punk aplomb. Exuding a new wave nonchalance, Paste Magazine calls their sound “a formidable combination of melody and swagger”.
Provocative and no-nonsense at once, Elane’s guitar revisits the new romantic era with a modern rock punch, while Patterson’s baritone guitar laces each song with longing. Incorporating droney synth bass with heavy drum beats and samples, the band delivers a persuasive heart-bumping show unlike anything else coming out of Seattle right now. Atop disco undertones, Elane and Patterson’s hypnotic vocals add tales of sexual encounters and self-confidence bringing a refreshing angle to our present-future’s interpretation of no wave dance music.
Esteemed Seattle music critic Dave Segal, The Stranger states The Gods Themselves create “some of the sexiest and most danceable rock from Seattle’s musical underground.” Get with the glamour and pick up their third LP Be My Animal out now!
